Big changes are on the way for Fire Station #3 in 2025, as the current structure (featured to the right) is no longer there. The City Council and Mayor Roger Steele approved the construction of a new Fire Station #3, which is nearing its completion.

The current facility was originally built in 1987 and houses only one frontline unit, which is Rescue 3. Once the new station is complete, GIFD intends to add ambulance service along with additional staffing to better serve the southwest portion of Grand Island.
